Last week automaker Land Rover launched it’s first ever hybrid model, the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Hybrid Sport. The two models will be making their debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
Known for its capability and performance, both Range Rover hybrid models will sport a diesel engine and an electric motor and lithium-ion battery that is said to offer a total 340 horsepower. Each will also contain an identical powertrain and be built with Land Rover’s lightweight aluminum architecture.
As with most hybrid models, the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Hybrid Sport deliver excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. The average fuel consumption for both models is approximately 36 mpg for CO2 emissions of 272 g/mi.
The hybrid models will be released commercially in early 2014.
