The Land Rover name has been in use since 1948 and today includes a number of great sports utility vehicles. The Land Rover third generation LR3, produced from 2004 to 2009, is among them. Fans of this British automaker and their Discovery 3 are generally happy with the performance of these SUVs, although mechanical issues can occur with them.
For example, some LR3 owners have experienced problems with their SUV's suspension and have gotten suspension fault messages flashing on their dash indicating a problem. This may be due to an issue with the air compressor. It is possible that there may be a leak in the compressor which is in turn causing the compressor to be overworked.
You can perform a check of this yourself by looking for leaks. It is also recommended that you check and see if the dryer cover is cracked or otherwise compromised in some way that would allow the air compressor to get clogged. If the system is clogged then this may cause the suspension to drop which would then trigger the suspension fault indicator light to come on.
If you are the owner of a Discovery 3 and are receiving a suspension fault message, you would be well-advised to bring your SUV in for an evaluation by a local import auto maintenance expert. A mechanic will be able to give you an estimate and a complete repair diagnosis. They will probably be able to fix the problem for less money than a dealership would charge as well.
Search for a local, independent Land Rover repair shop with Land Rover mechanics that have dealer-level expertise at a fraction of the expense.
