School is back in session and football is back on television…that means the fall season is upon us. Here are a few things to check to get your Land Rover ready for the fall months, and keep you safe on the road.

Headlights/Other Lights
With shorter days and longer nights, you use the lights in your Land Rover more during the fall (and winter) months. For visibility and safety reasons, make sure they are in proper working order by checking your taillights, parking lights, stop lights, fog lights and emergency flashers. It’s important for you to see on the road, as well as for others to see you.

Windshield Wipers
Wiper blades wear down in heat, so it’s imperative to check them after the summer has passed and replace if necessary so they are in proper working condition for the rainy months ahead. Wiper blades also help you clear any debris off your windshield, like leaves, so make sure they are not scratching your windshield. As a general rule of thumb, wiper blades should be replaced at least once a year.

Brakes
Hopefully in August you got your brakes checked, since it is Brake Safety Awareness Month, but if not, then now is the time to do it. Wet roadways and fallen leaves on streets can make braking more difficult for your Land Rover. Have your brakes routinely checked by your local Land Rover service center.

Tires
Along with brakes, your tires need to be checked so you don’t have any problems stopping on slick roads. Check your tires’ treads to make sure they aren’t visibly worn and are gripping to the road properly. It’s also a good idea to check your spare tire and make sure it is properly inflated in case you need it.

Defroster
Windows that fog are a safety hazard because they limit visibility. Have the vents and electrical wiring examined to make sure they are in proper working order so you don’t encounter any problems.
