Whether trekking off into the great outdoors or meeting up with family members at the beach this year, it’s wise to make sure your Land Rover is ready to handle the road ahead. Here is a checklist to help get your Land Rover road trip ready!

Tires (including the spare): Inspect the tread depth and check the pressure in each of them. Be sure to check the spare tire too. Also, consider getting an alignment and/or rotation if that hasn’t been done in awhile.

Brakes: Have your local independent Land Rover repair mechanic inspect the pads and rotors. Let them know if you have vibrations when braking or if you have heard any grinding or squealing noises while driving.

Battery: Test the battery before you leave for a long road trip. Look for signs of corrosion on terminals and make sure the battery is securely mounted.

Fluids: Check to see that all essential fluids are at the correct levels. These include, engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid and windshield wiper fluid.

Lights/Signals: If any bulbs appear to be out, replace them before you get on the road. This includes headlights, brake lights, turn signals and hazard lights.

Wiper Blades: Check the wiper blades and replace if necessary. You want to be sure that they are effectively cleaning the windshield and not smearing things or leaving streak marks on it.

Emergency Kit: And a quick check of your emergency kit and its contents should include jumper cables/jump starter, tire repair kit, flashlights, first aid kit, blanket, batteries, flares/reflective triangles, gloves and basic tools.

Being proactive about preparing your Land Rover for a road trip will ensure a safe and stress-free journey to your destination.

Search for a local, independent Land Rover repair shop with Land Rover mechanics that have dealer-level expertise at a fraction of the cost.
